lessons in manufacturing

Well last week took an unexpected turn. With the sharing of my last post on the Union Jack pillow several orders have come in from various Annie Sloan Chalk paint stores from around the world. Wow!! So Suzanne Faris – handmade things will officially be stocked in Green Table Gifts, in Tempe Arizona, The Dandelion in Windsor Ontario, Piper & Ross in Pymble Australia and The Melon Patch in Bath Ontario.  I’m over the moon with excitement!! Truly a dream come true.  (And Australia? How awesome is that!)

Collecting supplies began in earnest last week and today I can say that I only have one more online order waiting to arrive and I’ll have everything I need. Until then I’m getting started on making everything in bulk. It’s really a fun process! I am finding it quite rewarding to be moving several copies of the same project ahead at one time. Even my girls are getting in and helping out. 🙂

These pics are the beginning of the process to make the Union Jack cushions. Some orders will be just the covers only and some will be stuffed with an acrylic cushion. (yes that big bag is my bulk order of forms… 🙂 I’ll also be making several sets of zippered pouches for a lady who is planning a class where people can try their hand at painting on them with the chalk paint. Great idea! I’ll be posting pics of the completed projects next week. Until then, it’s down to work!!
