It had been sitting on my desk since the One of a Kind show at Christmas and this past week while Paul was away I finally took the opportunity to make my Kiriki horned owl. Of course I was in love with the packaging at first sight and the project inside was just as fun. As Goldilocks would say, “not too big and not too small, this one was just right”.
At first I just copied the stitches from the picture and then realized later that they had instructions on their website on how to do each stitch the correct way. (Genius! I’m an embroidery newbie) In my classic fashion I had just jumped right in.
It’s been a while since I worked on something so small but it was such a welcome change from making something downstairs on my sewing machine. I loved being able to do it anywhere I wanted.
The spring One of a Kind show is just a week away, and I’m looking forward to taking Paul with me this time. Can’t wait! There’s a few designers and makers I’m looking forward to meeting like Bookhou (hoping to stop in to their shop too!) and Paper Trails Design Co. I might have to pick up another Kiriki embroidered doll kit while I’m there. 😉

You’re such a cute writer too…
