Well last week took an unexpected turn. With the sharing of my last post on the Union Jack pillow several orders have come in from various Annie Sloan Chalk paint stores from around the world. Wow!! So Suzanne Faris – handmade things will officially be stocked in Green Table Gifts, in Tempe Arizona, The Dandelion in Windsor Ontario, Piper & Ross in Pymble Australia and The Melon Patch in Bath Ontario. As promised a couple weeks ago I have a fun little tutorial here on making hand painted gold pillows! The “merry & bright” pillow was a new design I had added to my craft show in St Thomas this year and was bought by one of my Facebook followers. Strawflower Love

This was a little project I had in mind for some time. At our local CSA there was a lovely flower patch often frequented by me and my girls. Each week we went home with a collection of flowers to display. This was the first time I had seen a strawflower. It was just like the name, stiff and dry like straw but with striking colours, mostly in oranges, reds and pinks. I loved it! Because it is naturally so dry, it’s perfectly suited for preservation. Perhaps its just me, but I’ve been wondering if there is a new phenomenon going on. There seems to be more and more small art teaching studios popping up here and there. In London alone there were about 5 that came up on my search engine for painting and pottery. Pretty awesome!
